“The trust m3 shows me allows me to work independently and gives me considerable flexibility. At the same time, I am also able to contribute my own ideas and receive widespread support in making them happen.”
When I was looking for a job, I had very specific ideas about what my future employer should look like: On the one hand, they should offer exciting projects and challenging tasks that would allow me to advance personally and professionally. While on the other hand, they should give me extensive freedom to act and a certain level of creative freedom so that I could introduce my own ideas and realize them as well. All of that needed to be integrated into a flexible work model that would preferably take my personal interests and a healthy work-life balance into consideration.
Ever since I began working as a consultant at m3 in 2015, I can say that m3 has completely met all of the demands I envisioned. They show me an underlying level of trust, which is reflected in my flexible and individual day-to-day work life and in extensive professional latitude. Instead of insisting on control mechanisms, they encourage you to make your own decisions, allowing you to be an “entrepreneur within a company”. However, that does not mean you are left to your own defenses: Superiors and colleagues help and support one another on more challenging projects, tasks and decisions. That approach meant self-determined work even in the first years of my professional life.
At m3 you are able to present your own ideas on how to help the company advance and realize those ideas as well. For example, I was able to present a new employee benefit in the context of mobility and introduce it for all employees. In addition, I am actively involved in the continued development of our consulting portfolio and am engaged in determining how we can support our customers in the development of agile forms of organization.
Flat hierarchies, a culture of open communication and respectful treatment of one another all shape the day-to-day work. There is a strong sense of solidarity in teams and in the company as a whole and work takes place on an even playing field – regardless of where you are in the hierarchy. Regular group events and off-site events make sure we have the opportunity to chat and network with our colleagues.
Anyone who has ever lived the life of a business consultant knows that frequent travel demands a certain amount of flexibility. m3 makes it easier by providing employee-friendly travel conditions and a home office policy that allows you to freely choose where you want to live. A healthy work-life balance is a general consideration and every attempt is made to accommodate changes in employees’ personal life, e.g., when starting a new family.
Looking back on my expectations when I was looking for a job, all I can say is: They have been more than just met, they have been exceeded – this was definitely the right move for me.
